Where I've been

Hi friends! I know I haven't been here in a while. I've pretty much neglected all my social media and this blog over the last few months. I've been pretty depressed and haven't much felt like doing anything. I have called my primary care doctor and will have an appointment in a couple weeks to adjust my medications. Until then I'm just trying to push through and be better at staying involved.   I've not read much during this time either. The reading I have done was mostly romance and audio books. In the following days I will be leaving a couple of reviews, and hopefully some other posts. I'm currently posting on my TikTok, and will probably do most of my quick reviews there. You can always check it out if you want to keep up to date with my reading habits.  Thanks for hanging around. I will get better, it's just a process.

HELLLLLLOOOOOOO!!!!

Hi! Welcome to my book blog. So happy you're here.  A little about me: I have enjoyed reading all of my life. I picked up my first book and read it at age 4, and haven't stopped since then. I read fairly diversely, however, my favorite books are fantasy.  If it's interesting I read it. Sometimes I DNF a book, but I always give it a fair shot first.  I keep track of what I've read on good reads, and participate in the challenge every year. This year I started with the goal of 100 books, and I am way behind!  I enjoy picking up new books, however, I love to read backlisted books. My book buying habits are really all over the place, lol.  With this blog I plan to go a little more in-depth about what I read than I do on goodreads. I will write reviews, and I will be honest about the book I discuss. I won't always give a glowing review, but I will give my opinion. It may differ from yours, and thats okay! We all love different things, and look for different thi...

Current Reads...

Occasionally I will pick up a couple books at a time. After my book hangover I feel like I need a little light reading. Something quick and fun, but not extremely complex.  Unfortunately for me, I ended up picking up two books that are a bit complex. I am enjoying them so far though.   The first book I picked up is Foretold by Violet Lumani. It is an ARC I received through Netgalley from Uproar Books. It will be available for purchase July 19, 2021. So for that I am very thankful. Foretold tells a story from the point of view of a teenager with OCD. She also suffers from visions of the future. That's right Cass is able to see the future. But can she do anything about it? That's what I'm dying to find out.  I've only just started this book, but I'm nine chapters in and loving it! I'll be sure to post a review once I wrap it up.  The second book I decided to read is Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I put off picking this one up because when I ...

Book Hangover

I was recently swept into a world of magic, political intrigue, friendship, and forbidden love. And I was left in a terrible book hangover. I took a little longer than usual to read this book because I knew what was awaiting me at the end… The book: Blood Song The Author: Anthony Ryan This book is the beginning of an Epic fantasy. We open the story from the point of view of a writer of history. He is currently awaiting our “hero” who was captured five years prior. He is tasked with taking the hero to his ‘certain death’ and he relishes the moment to come at the end of the journey. You see, the Emperor’s heir has been slain in battle by our Hero, and he wants revenge. Enter Vaelin Al Sorna, the hero. I use the term hero but I’m not sure who’s hero he is. Vaelin and the writer board a ship sailing off to the Island where Vaelin is schedule to a battle to the death. During the journey, Vaelin tells the writer that he wrote the history completely wrong. Intrigued the writer asks wh...

Over hyped...but is it?

I recently read a book that has been making it's way around the booktok, and book tube community.  That is From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentout. I have seen countless videos on this book and thought I should see what the hype is all about. I must say, it deserves the hype in my humble opinion. It has everything I want in a romantic fantasy. We follow Penellaphe, or Poppy, through life as "The Maiden" who will soon Ascend. I find Poppy to be witty, smart, and a little too compulsive for her own good sometimes. Poppy is not allowed to speak to anyone, be near anyone, or lift her veil in front of anyone, except her guards, the Duke and Duchess, and her best friend Tawny. Poppy lives a very sheltered life, and has grown tired of it. When we first meet Poppy she has snuck out to a brothel/tavern in the town. She hasn't been seen by a lot of people without her veil so she feels she won't be reported or noticed. Her plans unfortunately get bungled by her guard sh...
